• I'm concerned about having all my information "out there."
How do you protect my privacy?
view answer
We have our databases on their own, private server. We use
firewalls and encryption to protect your data.
No one will have full access to all the information you enter in
your profile, nor are you required to enter something in every field.
If you are only interested in reconnecting with your friends who were in
Brownie Troop 123 in Friendship, AR in 1965 or Army buddies you trained with in
1959 at Fort Bragg, then that's all you need to enter.

• I can't search for anyone. Where is the search engine?

are registered and logged in, you will have access to our search engine and
can begin to reconnect with your friends.

We do not and will not accept advertising. Because we have no advertisers to
please, we can concentrate on pleasing you, our members. We think it’s more
important to deliver the service you registered for than to drive traffic to
our homepage to view ads.
In order to make our site secure and to protect your privacy, we also have higher
costs. We are charging a very minimal price, especially compared to similar
websites, hoping to offset our expenses.

• I registered but I can't log in (or forgot my username or password). Help!
view answer
There are several reasons why you may not be able to log in. The error
message you receive on the login page will help you figure out the problem.
If you are unable to log in because you can't remember your username or password
(you get an error that says "Invalid Username" or "Invalid Password"),
go to the login page and click the appropriate link for assistance.
An error that says "Username is locked" means too many login attempts
were made. To protect against someone trying to hack your account, the account will
be automatically locked after a certain number of attempts. Use the
"Contact Us" form and we will unlock your account.
If the message says "Username is not activated" you may be trying to
log in without using the activation link in the email you should have received
when you registered. If you registered and payed but did not receive an email:
1) Did you register more than 24 hours ago? If not, please allow 24 hours for the
activation email. Occasionally there can be a delay.
2) Check your spam folder.
If there's no sign of it anywhere, contact us and we will
send out another activation email.
An error that says "Your subscription has expired" means you need
to renew your membership. Click here to
renew your subscription.

• How often do I need to update my profile?
view answer
Lost Friend Found is your permanent address on the internet. Put your
information here, one time, and be found without having to work at it.
As long as your information stays
the same, there is no need to update your profile. If your information changes, for
example, if you move or change your last name, you can update your profile to reflect
the changes at any time.

• Will people see everything I've entered in my profile?
view answer
No, they will not. They will only see the information that matches
their search. For example, if someone searched for you by name,
high school and year, that is the only information they will see.
They will not see places you've lived, jobs you've had or any
other information.

• If I send someone a message, will they see my e-mail address?
view answer
No. All they will see is your username and whatever you type
in your message. They will not have any contact information
unless you decide to share it with them.

• I searched for my best friend from second grade but she isn't listed
in the search results. How will I know if she signs up?
view answer
We have created something we call a "WatchList" where
you can save your searches. If a new member signs up or if a current
member changes their profile and they match the criteria in your
WatchList, you will automatically receive an e-mail saying there was
a new match.
